The fellowship at Potters Bar Baptist Church is a cross-section of ordinary people trying to live as a Christian family, who want people to feel welcomed, loved and supported by us in whatever their circumstance.

Our Mission is to make fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ, creating in Him, His community in the heart of our neighbourhood.

Our understanding is that His community encompasses not just this town but also this nation and this world.

The church is within a Controlled Parking Zone, which operates Monday to Saturday.

Limited parking is available behind the church.

A public pay and display car park is located just north of the Murco Garage in Barnet Road (free on Sundays).

Our Beliefs

Our beliefs are centred around the following:

Jesus is the only way to God
God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3 verse 16)
Jesus died to set us free from our sinful nature
After his death, Jesus rose from the dead and now sits at the right hand of God
Jesus will return again to the earth at a time known only to God
God has three, equal, aspects: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit
We have all sinned and need God's forgiveness and yet we are accountable to God for our words, thoughts and actions
Salvation is a free gift from God given by his grace (Salvation cannot be bought of earned)
We have a new (spiritual) birth through the acceptance of Jesus as our Saviour

Baptist Beliefs

Baptist Churches believe in:

the lordship of Christ that sets us free to be our true selves
In your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have." (1 Peter 3 verse 15)
the authority of the bible, because in the bible we learn about Christ
"All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching the truth, rebuking error, correcting faults, and giving instruction for right living, so that the person who serves God may be fully qualified and equipped to do every kind of good deed" (2 Timothy 3 verse 16)
believers' baptism, because it expresses a truly personal faith
"Repent, and be baptised every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins." (Acts 2 verse 38)
a free or believers' church, because it is a genuine expression of Christian community and consists of people who have made a 'covenant' commitment to each other
"Let us not give up meeting together, but let us encourage one another" (Hebrews 10 verse 25)
the priesthood of all believers, because it affirms the place of all Christians in the worship and service of God
"So, warmly welcome each other into the church, just as Christ has warmly welcomed you; then God will be glorified" (Romans 15 verse 7)
church membership and Church Members' Meetings, because in this way we can all take responsibility for the life of the church
"Whatever happens, make sure that your everyday life is worthy of the gospel of Christ" (Philippians 1 verse 27)
interdependence, because we need each other and each church needs other churches
"To the church - We always thank God for you and pray for you constantly" (1 Thessalonians 1 verses 1-2)
sharing the faith, because we are people of conviction and want others to become part of us
"The Master said to the servant, 'Go out to the roads and country lanes, and urge the people there to come so my house will be full'" (Luke 14 verse 23)
religious freedom, because only free faith is true faith and all should have the freedom to come to their own convictions.
"Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life" (Revelation 22 verse 17)
prayer which is an integral part of Christian faith and service
"Pray on every occasion, as the Spirit leads. For this reason keep alert and never give up; pray always for all God's people." (Ephesians 6 verse 18)
a responsibility to regularly support the church financially
"Each one of you, on the first day of each week, should set aside a specific sum of money in proportion to what you have earned and use it for the offering" (1 Corinthians 16 verse 2)

Room hire

If you are looking for a venue to hold a works meeting or for some other group then we have a couple of halls and a small meeting room for hire.

The halls, one seating 70 and the other seating 60 cost £30/hr and £25/hr respectively and the small meeting room seating 20 persons costs £13/hr all including the use of a kitchen.
